The admissions process at the University of Cambridge is a little different to other universities.

Application essentials 

• Apply to the Human, Social and Political Sciences (HSPS) undergraduate course through UCAS (Course Code L000). The deadline is 15 October, which is earlier than most universities. 
• The application process is the same for all applicants, including international students.
• Shortlisted applicants may be invited to attend an interview, typically in December.

• Colleges assess all applications. Contact the relevant College Admissions Office if you have any queries. 
   

UCAS application  

• Other courses you’ve applied to on your UCAS application may not have such an interdisciplinary mix as HSPS. You should write your application to be appropriate for all the courses you are applying.
• Your UCAS application is just one part of the Cambridge application process.

My Cambridge Application 

• You’ll be asked to complete My Cambridge Application. This is an extra form to return after you’ve submitted the UCAS application. You can use your My Cambridge Application to write about which specific aspects of the HSPS course attracted you to apply.
• You'll get an email within 48 hours with instructions and a link to your My Cambridge Application.
• We use My Cambridge Application to ensure we have complete and consistent information about all applicants.
• It helps us to collect information that's not in the UCAS application but can be useful for assessing students. For example, details of topics you've covered as part of your A Level courses (or equivalent) may help our interviewers to decide which questions to ask.

Submitting written work 

HSPS applicants are required to submit 2 pieces of written work, such as an essay, prior to interview. You should send in pieces that you’ve done at school in the normal course of study and had marked by a teacher. We advise that you choose work you are proud of and you are happy to discuss at interview. 
 
Instructions will be provided by the College assessing your application. 

Admission assessment 

If you're invited for interview, there is an admission assessment at some Colleges. You do not need to register in advance - details will be provided by the relevant College. Check the College admission assessments page  for more information.
